When it comes to cannabis edibles, there’s nothing quite as iconic as the infused brownie. Even most non-cannabis users have heard of or come across “magic” brownies at least once. Depending on the strain used in baking, these chocolatey, decadent squares produce a high and effective relief from various ailments. While you could whip up a box mix with some eggs and cannabis-infused butter or oil, why not go the extra mile and create a homemade weed brownie recipe that will really satisfy those taste buds? Here are a few to try.
Easy Cannabis Brownies
These are great if you want that “classic” brownie taste and texture.
What you need:
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon baking powder
½ cup cannabis coconut oil or cannabutter
1 cup sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 350° Fahrenheit and grease an 8 by 8 metal baking pan. Next, sift your dry ingredients in a large bowl and cream your cannabutter (or coconut oil) and sugar. Add the eggs next, followed by the vanilla. Finally, add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix on low to incorporate everything.
Pour the batter into the baking dish and lightly tap it to ensure everything’s even. If you want, add some crushed walnuts or chocolate chips on top. Place the pan into the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Test the brownies with a toothpick to ensure doneness. Cut into nine squares.
S’Mores Cannabis Brownies
These are perfect for a summer night around the campfire.
What you’ll need:
¼ cup cannabutter
¼ cup light vegetable oil
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon baking powder
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 cup mini marshmallows
4 graham crackers
8 ounces of chopped milk chocolate
Preheat the oven to 350° Fahrenheit. Grease your medium baking dish and set it aside. Whisk your eggs, vanilla, salt, baking powder, and sugar together. Add the flour, cocoa powder, melted cannabutter, and oil, and whisk it all until it’s well combined.
Pour the mixture into your baking dish and bake for 15 minutes. In the meantime, mix broken graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows in a bowl. Sprinkle the mix on the brownies and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes. Let them cool for about 10 minutes and cut them into squares.
Paleo Pot Brownies
These brownies are delicious as is (and secretly gluten-free!), but you can customize them to be vegan, as well.
What you need:
¼ cup creamy, unsweetened almond butter
¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons cane sugar
1/3 cup raw honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
1 ½ tablespoons of melted cannabis coconut oil
1/8 cup melted coconut oil (not infused)
¾ cup unsweetened raw cacao powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon salt
2 eggs (2 tablespoons of ground flax plus 6 tablespoons of water for vegan)
½ cup blanched almond flour
½ cup vegan chocolate chunks (optional)
Preheat your oven to 325° Fahrenheit and grease an 8 by 8 baking dish. Whisk the almond butter, sugar, honey, and both types of oil together. Add the cacao powder a little at a time, then the vanilla, salt, and eggs (or flax eggs). Fold in the almond flour with a spatula until you have a thick batter (it will resemble wet dough). Fold in the chocolate chunks if you’re using them and put the batter into the baking dish. Bake the brownies for 28 to 36 minutes, and let the pan cool for a couple of hours before slicing into 12 to 14 squares.
Weed brownies might be iconic, but that doesn’t mean that you have to limit yourself. Feel free to experiment with your favorite brownie (or blondie!) recipes. You might just find your new favorite edible!
